Voter Registration Drives in Toledo

Salaams Everyone,

This is Golden Week in Ohio when Ohioans can register AND vote at the same time. Let all your friends and family know! For more info, click the link to the left.

We are doing voter registration drives as many days as we can but primarily on weekends. We have identified three primary mosques in Toledo that we are focusing our efforts on. If you would like to get involved, please contact me through the MAFO email system.

John McCain and his cronies are trying to win an election by destroying Ohio's election system. In fact, they are actually claiming that Democrats are stealing the election before a single vote is counted.
Ohio conservatives are threatening hundreds of thousands of new voters - voters we worked so hard to bring into our democratic process - with felony convictions and jail time.

Their only "crime"? Voting!

While Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner is holding the line against their assaults, we have to stand with her in the fight for voter's rights in Ohio.

The facts are frightening. One of John McCain's regional chairs, Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters, is trying to haul 40% of his county's same day voters before a grand jury. Even the Republican chair of the county board of elections admits they haven't received a single allegation of wrongdoing by these voters.

We have to stop the conservative's attempt to criminalize voting.

In rural Greene County, another Republican prosecutor and McCain ally launched a baseless investigation into student voters at our nation's oldest private African-American university - a university founded before the end of slavery.

We have to stand up to this blatant assault on Ohio voters.

In their most brazen attempt to intimidate voters, Ohio conservatives have tried to disenfranchise an estimated 200,000 new voters who have simple database errors in a voter registration file. Secretary Brunner took the fight to the US Supreme Court and won.

But Ohio conservatives are still trying to push 200,000 Ohioans out of the regular voting process - this time with a lawsuit in front of the all-Republican Ohio Supreme Court. If they win, new registrants who vote early will be investigated by teams of conservative lawyers trying to pick off their votes one by one.

We have to act now to protect Ohio's new voters, so they can make their voices heard loud and clear on Election Day. Here are two things you can do to help:

1. Call McCain crony and Republican Prosecutor Joe Deters at 513-946-3000 and tell him to stop intimidating new Ohio voters.

2. Forward this message to your friends so we can shine a bright light on the conservative's dirty tricks in Ohio.
