I am a 56 year old wife, mother and grandmother. I believe that I can best serve Islam by respecting all faiths, practicing tolerance for differing viewpoints and bringing down the walls that divide us into Christian, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists so that we can remember that our Creator is one and to Him we must all return.
Why I support Barack Obama
Barack Obama has a vision for America that transcends politics. He is willing to meet with his enemies in order to bring peace. This is a rare quality and the sign of a moral and God fearing man. He has the cool, calm, collected intellect that is so important in a President who will face very stressful situations. He has inspired me with his words and his deeds. This is why I support him.
What Issues are Important to Me
Ending our occupation of Iraq, defusing hostilities with Iran and N. Korea, restoring the honor, dignity and leadership to America that is rightfully hers.

Thanks. I am not some kind of righteous person who is trying to stop immigration, don't get me wrong, as long as it is done in a legal way :) I do believe that as muslims we lead by example and this is something that can be protrayed as unethical. I would hate for a non-muslim to come across the website and say that MAFO is enabling illegal immigration.
I have been trying to follow all the post he has made but I think somehow he posted to almost every member so far. Please help me if possible by forwarding the word. Thanks sis and Peace be with you.

,I think what Mr. Samir is doing here is illegal. He is trying to use his "muslim" status to pull at the heartstrings of someone living here. I feel as though if he loves his fiancee so much he should have her come live with him until the situation is resolved.
He is asking for a co-signer, I do not want to question the integrity of Mr. Samir but unless we are very close to the person and know how responsible a person is we should never co-sign for ANYTHING. Mr. Samir can come to the US and maybe not find work and his fiancee not find work, request public assistance and the CO-SIGNER ( this is what he is asking for) would be responsible for paying his bills back to the goverment while he dissapears silently into the crowds.
I do not think that being muslim automatically grants someone a " responsible" status as much as I would want for this to be.
I think Mr.Samir is asking for people to put up their credibility and credit and he has no idea how important that is here in America.
This seems almost like a fishing scam to me??
Hello Farhat! I know the election is over and everyone is waiting for Barak to make things better. No one more than I, and I've been waiting for a long, long time. Since JFK was elected president in fact. But I wanted to comment on your letter to the editor in the NYT on veterans which I read today. I am a veteran. I served in the USAF during the Vietnam War, so I have a right to say this. Your comments were well-intended, I know, but there was a point of fact that you missed. Many, so many of those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan today are NOT veterans. They are mercenaries getting paid three times to work for civilian contractors as they would have been paid to serve in the military. I deal with these people every day. The ones in the military come in to buy something and I automatically give them a 20% discount. The contractors come in and automatically buy the most expensive items we have, and charge it to their government issued credit card. Needless to say, I don't give them any discount. The solution to the war(s) in Iraq and Afghanistan is simple, pull out the mercenaries and leave the military personal, and replace the mercenary/contractors with Peace Corps Volunteers. I suspect the PCVs at a ratio of 10: 1 could do far better than the Blackwater mercenaries. Hopefully Barack or his staff will realize this. In the meantime, pray for him, his family, and our country. We all need it.
yeah, I was wondering the same thing... if it is, I want to link your name in the article to your profile page. Folks woud love to see other MAFO members in the press!

Your short statement as to why you support Obama was one is the most articulate startments yet.
