Because, from the changes that he proposes for the country, he's the one candidate that supports me and my community more. A lifelong student of Imam W.D. Mohammed, I understand who and what Sen. Obama is, and, what he represents...the actualization of a promise, made to ALL people, long ago.
What Issues are Important to Me
Economics, Healthcare, Education, Improving our International Image, Domestic Security
Salaams, Moble...after reading your last response to Syed Ishaq, my thoughts hearkened back to the 2000 election - when mainstream Muslim American organizations, masajid included, predominately run by South Asian and Arab Americans, led the community astray and unilaterally decided to endorse George W. Bush, thereby compelling members to vote for him (and for Cheney). Many members felt betrayed - as the vote went against instinct and a significant segment of the Muslim American population was excluded from the decision making process - primarily African American Muslims (and respective organizations). Talk about poor judgement and creating disunity. It was disgusting.

I have been Muslim for about 26 years now, and, involved with a few community minded organizations (in the African American community) before that. During that time I have seen a few successes...and a few failures as well. Historically, the failures are usually caused by a lack of conviction or understanding by the membership...primarily prompted by forces/individuals that were missioned to cause disruption and disunity between the membership...make them doubt their cause or their purpose completely. I have seen it before...I wonder am I seeing it again. This will be my last post on this thread.
